Job Duties: This position requires strong organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication (both
written and oral) skills. The applicant will ensure the smooth operation of diverse programs within a one million dollar budget in a client centered environment with multiple rural challenges. The applicant will also be responsible for the growth of the agency to meet the changing demands of the communities. Applicants should have demonstrated experience in leadership, non-profit administration, and a demonstrated awareness of social issues, particularly those concerning women and children. A background within a rural environment is preferred.
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree level education, or equivalent in social service, community development, or health
setting, and a minimum of 5 years non-profit management experience. Demonstrated experience and competence with financial administration, human resource management in a unionized setting, contract management and program fund development. The successful applicant will be expected to reside or relocate to the Robson Valley.
Other: The Robson Valley Support Society is a non-profit charitable organization that provides a variety of
community social services to residents of the Robson Valley region, with office locations in the two communities of McBride and Valemount, BC. Services are provided to the elderly, disabled, children, and individuals or families in crises. In total, the agency offers thirteen programs, coordinates two services, and provides sub-contracted WorkBC employment services.
The Robson Valley spans 216 kms from one boundary to the next and encompasses the two rural communities of McBride and Valemount, along with several other smaller communities. McBride- population of 586 - is a charming mountain village, nestled in the wide flat-bottomed Robson Valley. Towering mountains outline the horizon with snow-capped peaks throughout the fall, winter, and early spring. Valemount - population 1,020, is surrounded by the Rocky, Monashee and Cariboo mountain ranges and is located along the Yellowhead (Highway 5) near the junction of Highway 16 leading directly into Mount Robson Provincial Park and Jasper National Park. Both communities offer a wide variety of year-round outdoor recreation activities, community involvement opportunities, and spectacular scenery.
