Job Duties: To manage the operations of the Banquet Department. This hands on position, will include, working
closely with other areas of the hotel, specifically the Kitchen and the Sales & Catering office. This position will be required to maintain a flexible work schedule. This position reports directly to the Catering or Sales Manager. This person will directly supervise banquet staff to ensure an efficient and organized department, with a high product delivered.
Manage the events in all conference rooms, along with the Sales Manager.
Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and associates to ensure all room set ups, audio visual equipment, supplies, staffing and menus meet or exceed customer's expectations.
Direct and train new associates and creates a positive work environment.
Review all equipment and supplies to be sure all is in order.
Must be hands on to help with set up, clearing, serving or bartending as required.
Control labour costs for each function.
Meet with the Catering or Sales Manager regularly concerning current and future events.
Remain in close contact with this department for all upcoming events, and possible changes, etc.
Act as a liaison with the Convenor or Group Leader to ensure a positive experience, guest satisfaction, etc.
Provide leadership and direction for your staff, setting high standards of quality, service, safety and profitability.
Upkeep and control of all storage rooms, audio visual equipment, sound equipment, linens, etc.
Administer the maintenance and cleanliness of all conference rooms, storage rooms, at all times.
Create and maintain checklists required for services, including... Bar set up, Coffee Station, Dessert Station, buffet requirements, meeting requirements, luncheons, breakfasts, special events, etc.
Post schedule for future events and staffing those events (as directed by the Sales Manager).
Other duties as requested by the Sales and Catering Manager or the General Manager.
