Hours: Starting June 27, 2016. Position will be 30 hours per week for 9 to 10 weeks.
Wage: $13.00 per hour.
Job Description: The student will be responsible for coordination of all materials necessary for implementing the
Children's Heritage Program which runs every Thursday through the summer of 2016 (July and August). The CHP is the weekly education/activity session the Valemount Museum offers to children ages 5-12. The employee will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with young children. The employee will also be responsible to create the Children's Program for the summer of 2017. The employee will work regular shifts within the Museum either opening (10am - 4pm) or closing (12pm - 6pm) and will be responsible to learn all tasks of both shifts including greeting and touring visitors through the Museum, some cleaning, light accounting responsibilities (working within the budget of the CHP) and assisting with all scheduled events hosted by the Museum & Valemount Historic Society during the summer. There is an opportunity for the student to have one week off during the summer months for pre-arranged family vacation plans.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a local high school student who is articulate, enthusiastic and displays
confidence with others. A second language will be an asset, but not a requirement. Basic computer and internet knowledge along with familiarity with social media sites such as Facebook are required as is an interest in local history. Some hours in September may be available at the museum and for special events.
