Hours: 10 hours weekly. Position starts June 20, 2016.
Wage: Starting at $16.30 per hour.
Job Description: Participates in assessments, goal setting and program planning, such as individual Service Plans,
for individuals living semi-independently.
Evaluates individual’s needs and develops short term plans to meet needs.
Assists individuals to function more independently in their own homes and in the community.
Recognizes and deals with potential emergency situations, to ensure no harm comes to the clients
Reports problems to supervisor.
Administers medication to individuals in accordance with established policy.
Ensures health and safety standards are maintained.
Reviews and evaluates progress and adjusts programs as required.
Accompanies and/or transports individuals to activities such as appointments, shopping, or leisure activities.
Maintains reports regarding individual’s daily activities and progress.
Identifies social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational and educational services in the community that will meet individual’s needs.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Grade 12 diploma.
CASS 110 Communication Skills or Equivalent.
CASS 130 Ethics and the Law for Social Service Workers or Equivalent.
CASS 145 Positive Approaches to Teaching and Learning Part II or Equivalent.
CASS 150 Life Planning and Support Systems or Equivalent.
CASS 160 Physical Care or Equivalent.
Mandt’s (non-violent crisis intervention) training or equivalent.
Valid 1st Aid with CPR Certificate.
Reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance.
Clear Criminal Record Review for the purposes of working with vulnerable adults.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Ability to work within the designated setting.
Ability to work all designated shift patterns.
Ability to meet requirements of the Residence Worker Job Description.
Demonstrated experience in providing residential services to adults with a developmental disability in home and community settings.
Good written and verbal communication skills, especially in regards to reporting.
Demonstrated ability to teach skills and work effectively with others.
Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices in the field.
Good time and general management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, agencies and co-workers.
Active listening skills.
Use of own vehicle is required.
