Wage: $17.00 per hour. Full time for 2 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August.
Job Description: The position responsibilities, as follow, reflect the CVCA Board's expectations of the
Coordinator however, the CVCA Board through their Employee Liaison may ask the Coordinator to find or complete tasks and/or responsibilities beyond what is outlined below.
In general the Coordinator position is expected to:
Work under the guidance of the Employee Liaison, CVCA Administrator and the Activity Leaders.
They must work as a team player and or independently, show initiative and use creativity in implementing CVCA projects according to the by-laws and mandate of the Association.
Performs responsible recreational work in accordance with the program standards for children and/or youth at an assigned location. Responsible for engaging in organized recreational activities.
1. General Centre Operational Duties and Responsibilities During Designated Shifts
Opening and closing the Centre on time while working scheduled shift, ensuring security and safety measures are met and exercising due diligence at all times.
Welcoming visitors and informing them about opportunities and guidelines regarding clothing, book and toy exchanges, use of CVCA and Kinnickinickers space and resources, ensure Centre guidelines are met at all times.
Wash, sorting, and outfit pairing for Clothing exchange, and removal of hangers from racks. Create "Outfits of the Week" and take pictures and post on Facebook Page and Valemount Swap and Buy Facebook pages and web site.
Adhere to the Centre Daily Routine policy, includes opening and closing responsibilities, cleaning and disinfecting of Centre. Centre cleanliness, according to Food Safe and Northern Health guidelines, refer to the CVCA guidelines for cleaning and maintain the tidiness of the Centre at all times with at least 1 hour per shift to be spent on space and object cleanliness, more time is to be allotted according to need when project or activity are completed.
Detailed reporting of activities each day worked and reporting needed for programing, attendance, inventory usage, and costs related to programming.
Promotion, sale and recording of CVCA memberships, update new member listing to contacts at firstname.lastname@example.org email. Patrons must have membership to participate in Centre Activities to meet insurance mandates.
Promotion of a cooperative, healthy and respectful atmosphere.
Encouragement/support for the CVCA Centre and its programming.
Engage in conversations to encourage/support families in sharing and/or implementing ideas for programs, events and workshops.
Recording and reporting user suggestions and/or grievances to Board Employee Liaison and/or Administration document them in the daily notes communication book.
Recording and report all critical incidents and/or issues to Board Employee Liaison and document them in the daily notes in the critical incident report book and the communication book.
Ability to deal effectively with participants, encouraging participation in the various activities; and develop and maintain effective relationships with other employees, activity participants and the general public.
Must organize and participate in Literacy Arts and Crafts and/or CVCA programming with other staff members. Conducts and participates in games, music, arts, crafts, playground and other scheduled activities. Assists in conducting daily Safety Meeting with children before activities commence.
Supervises and participates in all activities to ensure the protection and safety of all participants.
Provides a positive and authoritative approach, as per training, to guiding behavior using age-appropriate limits and choices.
Encourages children to take responsibility for their role in the CVCA programs.
Reports days observations and activities to assigned Activity Leader.
Learn recreational activities suitable for children ages Six (6) through Twelve (12) in a child care setting. Assists in teaching good eating habits and personal hygiene. Ensures children have proper rest periods and have quiet times if needed. Ensures each child has individualized support in each activity.
Must be available to work special event activities throughout the year that are outside regular Centre operational hours, must work weekend shifts when scheduled.
Learn to use Excel, Work and Publisher Programs for documentation and reporting on the Centre's and program usage, donations and contributions. Learn to develop posters and brochures for Promotional marketing.
Development of surveys for projects and programs coordinated.
Dissemination of Centre's information on upcoming projects, programs and other activities to the community at large through bulletins, Facebook Page, and fixed place community info boards and spaces and the community calendar.
Team support for other CVCA staff, the Board and Partners, works in conjunction with Employee Liaison, Administrator and Activity Leaders.
In addition, the Coordinator will:
Conduct herself/himself in a highly confidential and professional manner and be aware that you are representing CVCA, its Board of Directors, Partners and Funders.
Have respect for and gain knowledge about CVCA, Mission and Values Statement, Strategic Plans, its Board of Directors, employees, partners and funders, to work together towards the common goal of supporting the needs of families with young children and their community.
Support and promote CVCA's Mission and Statement of Purposes.
Employees work under the Board appointed Employee Liaison's supervision and all work and Centre related communications must go through appropriate channels.
If Employee Liaison is unavailable then employee contacts the Administrator or designated Board Member.
