A little about us:
Valemount College is a newly created non-profit social enterprise, governed by the Valemount College Society Board of Directors. Our mandate is to promote lifelong learning and economic development in the Valemount area, by providing innovative post-secondary learning programs with rural mountain themes, that will attract students locally, nationally and internationally.
In keeping with our comprehensive Business Plan, the first few years will include certificate programs in Outdoor Recreation Tourism, Rural Entrepreneurship, Tourism Administration and First Nations Tourism, as well as short mountain-themed edu-tourism packages that will appeal to the many tourists who visit our area.
As a small, nimble social enterprise, our programming will respond to community needs and it will evolve, based on student demand. In the longer term, our College Director will be encouraged to research and develop new and innovative programming. Yes, we will encourage and reward your creativity!
As a new school, we will be relying heavily on strong student recruitment and retention to ensure its success. Our College Director will be responsible for developing innovative marketing and recruitment campaigns, and for leading a fun, positive organization with a student-centred focus.
A little about Valemount, BC:
Wouldn’t you love to live, work and play in a mountain resort community near Jasper National Park, surrounded by three beautiful mountain ranges? Of course you would! Valemount is a small mountain community, about to experience amazing growth with the upcoming development of a year-round resort. Valemount Glacier Destination will provide public access to high alpine glaciers for sightseeing and year-round skiing, reaching elevations of approximately 3,000 meters, and will also feature the largest vertical drop in North America, with some of the longest ski runs in the world.
Valemount is also home to Mount Robson, the tallest Canadian Rocky Mountain, where you can hike the famous Berg Lake Trail. We also have an amazing downhill bike park, practically in town, and we’re surrounded by hiking trails for all levels. If that’s not enough, you can bring your sled to experience some of the best snowmobiling terrain during the winter months.
Valemount doesn’t have rush hour, big box stores, a mall or smog, but we manage without all that. If you have the skills and experience we’re looking for, and you’re ready for a lifestyle change, this is the opportunity for you!
