Accounts Payable Clerk (p/t)- Village of Valemount

The Village of Valemount is seeking applications for the position of a part time Accounts Payable Clerk. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, this position provides accounts payable procedures including, but not limited to:

• Maintain PO book process
• Review invoices for appropriate documentation
• Ensure invoices are approved by appropriate department
• Ensure invoices are coded to proper department accounts
• Enter and process cheque runs
• Ensure cheques signed by appropriate signatories when required
• Reconcile accounts payable batches
• Maintain accounts payable throughout year for review by auditors
• Provide monthly accounts payable report to council
• Maintain village visa statements and ensure balanced/paid monthly
• Maintain village council and staff professional development, conferences
o Bookings, payments, reimbursements
• Any and all other duties as required

The successful candidate will have the following:
Qualifications:
• Ability to prioritize duties and organize work schedules in a busy municipal office environment
• Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Capacity to establish and maintain courteous, tactful, diplomatic working relationships as part of a small team
• 2 years experience in a clerical setting with a preference in accounts payable

Education:
• Grade 12
• Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Related degree or diploma an asset

This position is for 21 hours per week, and is eligible for benefits. Wages will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position will also be required to be available to cover the Administration Services Coordination position during busy times, holidays and sick time. Training to be provided.
