Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager - Best Western

Company:  Best Western PLUS Valemount Inn & Suites.
 
Technical Requirements:  Practical creativity to provide innovative entrees.  Experience in techniques of large banquets & presentation of such.  Thorough knowledge of food handlings & preparations.  Strong inventory control skills.  Work closely with F&B Director and GM to develop imaginative menus.  Consistently check line plating & quality.  Utilize a hands on approach to training and developing kitchen staff.  Teach all staff the importance of consistency in preparation & presentation.  Responsible for food purchasing, including negotiating prices.  Develop restaurant, lounge & banquet menus which will appeal to guests of the hotel & local patrons.  Stay current on new products that can improve quality and/or lower costs.  Knowledge of current culinary trends would be an asset.
 
Leadership Requirements:  Ability to manage change effectively.  Provide leadership to the position.  Communicate goals & objectives, and inspire employees to achieve those goals.
 
Managerial Requirements:  Clear & concise written & verbal communication skills.  Demonstrate team building.  The ability to lead by example.  Build morale & spirit.  Use a "hands on" approach.  Train & cross train all employees.  Instill a positive guest service attitude in all employees.  Coach employees how to resolve &            de-escalate conflicts.  Instill a calm, organized approach in all situations
