Managerial Assistant - Valemount Museum

Hours: 30 Hours per week for a 14 week term, beginning the first week of May and ending August 28, 2016.
 
Job Description: To oversee the day-to-day operation of the Valemount Museum; this includes guest service
(meet and greet, offer tours, assist guests with their questions, requests for info, etc.), junior staff management (oversee the projects and activities of the 2 junior staff members) and to co-manage event coordination with the Administrator.
To complete WordPress training and be able to update the Museum website when needed, and to gain a working understanding of the other social media the Museum uses for its ongoing outreach.
To become familiarized with the processes of protecting and preserving the artifacts and archives.
To report directly to the Museum Administrator who in turn reports to the Board of Directors.
Light "housekeeping" responsibilities; vacuuming, dusting and some cleaning throughout the Museum and its outbuildings.
To learn the basic process of retail management; stocking, pricing, inventory, etc. and to make suggestions to improve the retail space and sales of the Valemount Museum.
We are looking for an energetic university or college student (between terms) who enjoys communicating with others and who will act as an enthusiastic host to our valued tourism visitors from around the world.  An interest in local history and good computer skills are mandatory.
 
Other: This position may be grant-funded through Young Canada Works; all candidates will have to register on that site as part of the application process once we have received funding confirmation.
