The Bookkeeper and Campus/Executive Assistant will perform bookkeeping, student recruitment and enrollment, marketing, customer service and administrative functions under the supervision of the College Director.
Hours: Permanent Part-time 10 Hours of Bookkeeping Duties Per Week, 15 Hours of Campus/Executive Assistant Duties (Total 25 hours) *Work hours are flexible should additional PT employment be desired.
Wage: $18.00 per/hr. plus Extended Benefits Plan, including full medical, dental and other benefits; both positions may lead to FT Permanent employment in the future. Training is provided.
Job Description:Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using the Sage 50/Simply Accounting software system and through maintaining an organized filing system. Provide additional reports to College Director and Board of Directors as required. Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements. Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills; keep confidential payroll records for all employees including sick leave accruals, other. Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents. Prepare tax returns and perform other bookkeeping services Provide excellent customer service through managing communications and customer interactions (phone, email, other) to facilitate student recruitment and enrollments. Carry out administrative activities associated with student enrollment, records and database administration, assisting the College Director with coordinating programs, procedures and other duties. Proficiency with MS Office and Email including correspondence, letters, taking meeting minutes for Board meetings, and other forms. Perform marketing duties by creating digital display ads, brochures, flyers, and newspaper advertisements using automated computer software. Preference will be given to applicants that are proficient and comfortable with: Creating and maintaining social media sites including promoting our programs via social media. Maintaining the College website using Word Press.
Qualifications: Business Administration, Marketing or Accounting Diploma and 1 year of Bookkeeping experience OR Formal Accounting or Bookkeeping Qualifications and 1 year of experience as a Bookkeeper OR Secondary school graduation and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Bookkeeper. Experience with sales (preference will be given to applicants with Educational Industry sales experience). Training or experience in marketing including online and Social Media marketing. Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll and the BC Employment Standards Act. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Must pass a Criminal Records Check.
